My friend was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a month ago, but he still drinks quite a lot of alcohol, is this ok?

I've been a type 1 for 15 years and when diagnosed my doctor told me either two shots or two beers if I drink. Besides being a type 2 will raise his blood sugar.

It depends what kind of alcohol he is drinking. I drink diet fizzy with spirits which doesn't affect my BS at all. If he is drinking beer that is a different story as most standard bottles generally have about 7 gr carbs in which will soon add up on a night out drinking.

Alcohol, is bad for type 2 . It is just liquid carbohydrates. The low carbohydrate high fat diet is the way to control most type 2. Test blood glucose at least 7 times per day. Before every meal and 2 hours after the meal. This will give you guidance on what foods are causing high blood glucose readings. The 7th time is before bed.
